Alan Fredrick “Poppie” Robinson, loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Arlington, Texas on January 31, 2015. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3. A private burial will follow at a later date. Alan was born on April 14, 1936 in England, the son of the late William Fredrick Robinson and the late Charlotte May Bradshaw Robinson. He would witness the horror of World War II as a young boy, and would recount many stories in later years to his children. After working for a while in the coal mines, he would follow his older sister to America in 1960, living in various states until finally settling in the Dallas area in 1970. Alan would learn the skill of a 4-color stripper, which in later years would be referred to as a graphic artist. He would retired from Taylor Publishing in 2002 after more than 20 years as an employee. He would settle into retired life, helping at craft shows with his beloved wife Shirley. As time allowed, he enjoyed traveling to see family, even enjoying a trip back across the pond to visit his homeland. When health became an issue, he would occasionally venture to Oklahoma to gamble. His family recalls him having fun, scratching delightedly at a lotto ticket. In June of 2014, he would loose his beloved Shirley, his loving companion of forty-two years. Life was never the same, as he would miss her dearly. Survivors include his children; Linda Archuleta, Dee Ann Ray, Mike Robinson, Stephen Robinson, Mark Robinson, Kevin Robinson, Paul Robinson; step-children, Tony Huff, Sheryl Frank; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Margaret Cole, Ray Robinson and Billy Robinson; nieces and nephews.
