Charles Ellsworth Roberts, 90, a native of Kansas City, Kansas, died on Saturday, January 31, 2015 in Rockwall County at a local hospital. Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home, 500 E. Main Street, Grand Prairie, Texas, 75050. Burial: DFW National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12:30 prior to scheduled services. Charles was born on August 19, 1924, the 3rd of 7 children born to the late Elester Roberts and the late Sadie Lillian Roberts. He would live in Kansas City before locating to the Houston area, where he would work as an insurance and real estate agent for many years. He was a long time member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Congregation. Survivors: daughter, Vernell Sheppard; grandchildren Cynthia Rochelle Sheppard, Theresa Noreen Sheppard Morris and her spouse Thomas; great-grandchildren, Cynciere Thomas, Tre’Von Chance, Tiante Burnett, Thomas Earl Morris III, Tristan Morris; brothers, Richard Roberts, Samuel Roberts and his wife Sallie; special and dear friend, Curtis James. In addition to his children, he was preceded in death by siblings, Ruth Roberts Saint, Sadie Roberts O’Daniel, William “Bill” Roberts and Frank Roberts.
