Mary Dot Adams, 97, died on Sept. 21, 2015 at a private care facility in Grand Prairie. Mary was born on Dec. 7, 1917 in Hopkins County, Texas. She was a graduate of East Texas State in Commerce, now known as Texas A & M Commerce. She is survived by a daughter, Jackie Dell.

Mark Anthony Balderas, 20, of Grand Prairie passed away September 29, 2015 surrounded by his family. Mark was born May 10, 1995 in Dallas, Texas. Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Friday, October 2, 2015 with a rosary at 7:00 PM. Services 10:00 AM Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home, 500 E. Main Street, Grand Prairie, Texas 75050. Interment following at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens. He was raised in Grand Prairie and attended Grand Prairie High School and recently graduated from Crosswinds High School. He enjoyed dancing, art, video games and skating. He was very friendly and got along with everyone. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father Gabriel Ali Yerena and his grandfather Hilario Lopez. Mark is survived by his mother Sandra Lopez and her husband Ronald Castro, siblings; Josceline, Jazmine & Elijah Castro, grandmothers; Rafaela Lopez and Jessica Yerena, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

Raul Guerrero Sr., 84, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015, following a lengthy illness in Arlington, Texas. Visitation: 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015 at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home, 500 E. Main Street, Grand Prairie with a Vigil Service at 7. Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Rev. Joseph Nguyen, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens. Raul was born on April 13, 1931, the son of the late Nicolas Guerrero and the late Esther Valdez Guerrero. He would be raised in the lower valley of Texas before moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 1968. Raul was a hard worker. He was employed by Vought, before working on the assembly line at General Motors in Arlington. He was a caring husband and father. Those who will miss him most recall his many honorable characteristics. He was a long-time member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Survivors: wife of fifty-seven years, Andrea Hernandez Guerrero; sons, Raul Guerrero Jr and his spouse Cindy McCann, Ricky Guerrero, Rudy Guerrero and his spouse Debbie Owens Guerrero; grandchildren, Jennifer Guerrero Agafonava, Nicolas Guerrero, Alejandro Guerrero, Jordan Nicole Guerrero; sister, Josefina Guerrero Montemayor.

Richard Leo “Rick” Vandewater, 57, a retired manager from Albertson’s Grocery Stores, died on Friday, October 23, 2015 following a brief battle with lung cancer. Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015 at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home, 500 E. Main Street, Grand Prairie, Texas, 75050. A private family interment will follow at a later date. Rick was born on December 29, 1957 in Rochester, New York, the son of the late Ronald Desmith Vandewater and Betty Jane White Vandewater. He would attend and graduate from school in New York before moving to Texas at the age of 20. He would begin his working career in the oil fields of west Texas. The promise of economic growth, his disgust with never ending sand storms, and new jobs in the metroplex would draw him to north Texas. He would have a long career with Albertson’s Grocery Stores, becoming manager in each department until becoming store manager. Rick was known for his jovial personality. Those who knew him best were always getting a text or call from him sharing “the joke of the day”. He was an avid reader and always up-to-date on current events, never afraid to share his opinion. He was a “tinkerer”, and enjoyed working on any thing that needed attention. He is survived by his children: Jeremy Vandewater, Katy Vandewater Barnett and her spouse Brent, Sarah Vandewater, Jason Vandewater; mother, Betty Vandewater; siblings, Pete Vandewater and his spouse Yvonne, Nancy Boggelyn and her spouse James, Sue Vandewater; the mother of his children, Rene Vandewater.

Doris Jean Owens, 86, a native of Calexico, California, resident of Arlington and loving mother, went to the angels on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2015 at a local care center. Burial will occur at Memory Gardens in Weatherford where graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015. Doris Owens was born on March 28, 1929, the daughter of the late Ivan and Annie Stevens. She has been a resident of Texas for 61 years. Survivors: daughters, Barbara Lee Tucker, Patricia Kay Owens; son, Roger Owens; grandchildren, Emily Owens, Jason Owens, Steve Warren, Chris Tucker, Scott Tucker and Julie Farrar. Carole Lynn Monshizadeh
Carole L. Monshizadeh, 61, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in Arlington, Texas. Carole was born on November 30, 1953 in Langdale, Alabama. As a young woman she enlisted in the Army, becoming a medic. After serving her country she went on to become a nurse, spending the rest of her life helping others. She had a deep love of cats and enjoyed reading to pass the time. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Massoud Monshizadeh, her two children, Ghazaul and Sohail Monshizadeh, her parents, Bobby and Joy Gray, and her sisters, Kaye Hall and Susan Dean. She was preceded in death by her youngest sister, Bobbie Crandall. She will be remembered always as a loving, kind and generous person, and as a mother who was willing to sacrifice anything for her children. Graveside services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2015 at DFW National Cemetery.
